Are You Bored in Class?

Students learn better outside the class, and out of their desks. They probably love learning because it takes you somewhere new. Many of the lessons are explained to students outside, with the help of activities done outside the class or even outside the school. Visiting the dentist, the baker or any new place reflects better understanding to students. In grade six many activities are done first and mainly a bake sale that corresponds to an English lesson that talks about a baker and the process of baking. This year we had a fantastic bake sale and the students collected a large amount of money that they donated to Dar AL-Hanan.

The teacher told me that, atter this activity they were able to write and express better about baking and helped in better understanding of the class, that is in addition to using english language in communicating.

Second the students visit Markaba factory for electricity generating, and also we visited the court, and many governmental departments in Jeb-Janin

Students prepared reports about their visit, you can't imagine what great work they did and how much they gained from such experience.

Cloud Computing

On Wednesday April 15th, we attended a seminar about Cloud Computing.

The Instructor talked about the Cloud Computing, its advantages and disadvantages.

Introduction:

The Instructor talked started by a historical overview about storing data that has been done by floppy disc, and then USB flashes and now a days by cloud computing.

Definition:

Cloud computing is the use of online computer to store data on a certain account at the cloud computing.

Advantages:

1.      The slow computers become fast.

2.      We will not need to back-up the data, because this cloud will store it.

3.      We can access data to edit through many devices and any time in a place with internet connection.

4.      Viruses don’t have a major effect on computers having a cloud.

Di advantages:

1.      We need a fast internet connection; otherwise the cloud will be not effective.

2.      Administrator can see all your information, but you can solve this problem by applying double password

The Benefits of Science Fair Projects

A science fair is an exhibition that is done by some universities like AUB and LIU. Schools register their projects and take the students during the day of the fair. There students display their projects and explain to the visitors, students of other schools and the teachers that judge them about their work. At the end of the day comes the announcement of the results for the best projects and prizes are given.

Science fair projects can be really exciting, especially now with all the opportunities the internet gives us. Most kids know how to use a computer for fun and spend many hours a week surfing the net. As parents, we would like to encourage them to use some of their computer time for schoolwork and educational projects. And researching scientific ideas and the scientific method is certainly a good use of their time.

Participating in a science fair has advantages like:

·         A science fair project is an activity that integrates almost every skill children has been taught.

·         Participating in science fair projects helps develop a feeling of confidence and competence among students, and fosters a spirit of scientific inquiry.

·         A science fair project is an experience that can be challenging and self-validating

·         Many science fairs offer cash prizes, which can be a significant incentive for some people.

O.M.E.C shared the science fair in Beirut and got 3 prizes, and still waiting to the fair in LIU and we also wish to get other prizes.

Classroom management

Trying to fix too many problems that teachers face in class, made me search for the main reason and I found it mainly about Classroom Management.
Classroom management is a term used by teachers to describe the process of ensuring that classroom lessons run smoothly despite disruptive behavior by students.
Classroom management is closely linked to issues of motivation, discipline and respect.

How to make a Classroom Management plan:
·        Understand what a classroom management plan is used for
·        Write it down
·        Determine your philosophy
·        Incorporate school policies and procedures
·        Consider preventative methods of classroom management
·        Define classroom rules, and stress on following
·        Explain consequences for breaking those rules
·        Write a contract explaining your rules, consequences, rewards, procedures and expectations to the students and the parents.

You Think It's Promotion

When I changed from being a teacher to become a supervisor, I felt that the schools responsible think that I’m not a good teacher for that they imprisoned me in that office. I refused and asked for a reason of that decision and the answer was, “because we trust your work and because you have abilities that we really need”. My coworkers envied me and told me that I will rest for the whole days.

I started work to find that I am responsible about:

1-    Monitoring students Progress.

2-    Keep the teachers trained and activated.

3-    Visit the class for problems, especially discipline.

4-     Prepare reports for student’s performance and absence.

5-    Keep in touch with parents and inform them about their children.

6-    Always be with the students in the playing ground and any place outside class, and that’s the most hard part because in their free time and in an open place you can’t expect what would they do.

7-    Follow up with the teacher for all extracurricular activities.

8-    Teaching schedules.

9-    Having a hand in planning for school events and implementing curriculum.

10-                       All official information for the Ministry of Education about these students must be prepared by me.

Many times I’m obliged to come during holidays or the vacation to do extra work.

For that don’t ever say: “the supervisor doesn’t work”.

TRAVELING PASSION

To me, traveling is a dream I hope I can make it true once a year for the annual vacation. Travelling has always been a passion. I started my dream by roaming Lebanon, because I always thought that if I don't know my country I shouldn't feel anxious to know other countries. Last year I felt in need to go to another place, due to the hard conditions of going inside Lebanon. I traveled to Turkey, to find a very interesting country. Seeing the green lands, the amazing bridges that connect between the Asian part and the European part, and the very old and deep rooted palaces. The castles, palaces and the mosques really astonished me; I think that visiting them is the most valuable thing in my trip. But also I felt petty for ourselves that as they are working hard to let us know and see the beauty and the history of their country we -as Arabs- trying to destroy all our culture.I will share with you some of the pictures I took.

No Hobby

My daughter is 14 years old, if I leave her she would stay on facebook, instagram, and internet games the whole day. Whenever I tell her: “Make something productive in your life.” She says: “Thx Mom”.

Am I working too much on this passion problem?

She is social; she has good friends, got good marks, and always seems satisfied in her life. But I really believe that she must have a beloved hobby. I tried to register her in many things drawing, music and scout every time she loses interest after one week or two weeks maximum. I know it’s wrong to compare her to her sister but see her sister filling her empty time with lots of drawings and feels so happy by producing things makes me feel that I must do something to her specially that she is a teenager with no hobby is not really beneficial to her and sometimes it's dangerous.

Any way to help?

Game - Based Learning

I attended a webinar in 18/3/2015 about:Education in Play with Lee Sheldon, Associate Professor in the Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He said:The children of today need the techniques of today to learn. This does not mean a blind faith in technology, such as video games or social media clumsily shoehorned into a curriculum like a stepsister’s foot vainly squeezed into Cinderella’s slipper. The multi-player classroom is not a class that uses video games to teach; instead it uses the craft of game design to create an entire class as a real-time multi-player game. Elements include grading by accretion, learning by failing, intrinsic rewards, peer teaching and more. Recent studies bear out initial anecdotal evidence from hundreds of teachers: the average grade for a class has risen from a C to a B. Students are creating their own assignments. Class attendance is almost perfect. The multi-player classroom uses the techniques today’s world uses to communicate with us, so that we can teach our children in a language they understand. In this webinar for the edWeb.net Game-Based Learning community, Lee Sheldon explored the multi-player classroom. Topics covered included: an introduction to the history and philosophy behind multi-player classrooms; identifying ways to apply elements of games to your own classes; and methods for turning parents, other teachers and administrators into enthusiastic supporters of the multi- player classroom.
But when the professor was asked about a clear way for assignment he didn't have any answer, he said that this is another people job, that what made things come complicated because he suggested an idea that is not complete yet.

WORK IS POSITIVE

Work hard for what you want because it won't come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to.

If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive. We all have mistakes and many problems in our lives, but still standing in one place is worse than working with many fails. Always stand up again and try at the end sure youy will reach your high goal.
For that I always think that I must:
 THINK, DO, and BE POSITIVE.

Teacher's Day

A good teacher is he or she who teaches his or her students perfectly and instructively. He tries to pull out the hidden treasures from the students. He makes himself ready for school in the every morning and reaches school early and sometimes he does official works.
He teaches his students from heart more than from books.
For that all he deserves to be honored. Happy Teacher's day to all teachers all around the world!
